On Friday, December 6, 吃瓜爆料 hosted the swearing in ceremony for newly elected Berkeley city officials, two of which are 吃瓜爆料 alums.
Mayor Adena Ishii studied at 吃瓜爆料 from 2009 to 2011 before transferring to UC Berkeley. Mayor Ishii was the president of the Civic Engagement Club, and in her induction speech, credited 吃瓜爆料 Political Science instructor Matt Freeman for teaching her how to organize and inspired her interest in politics. Councilmember Terry Taplin also studied at 吃瓜爆料 and worked as an instructional assistant in 吃瓜爆料鈥檚 writing lab.

To see them go from the halls of 吃瓜爆料 to City Hall is inspiring, and reminds us of the value and impact community colleges can have in shaping our society,鈥� said President Denise Richardson. 鈥淚 look forward to continuing to grow 吃瓜爆料鈥檚 relationship with Berkeley leaders in service to our students and community.鈥�
